I have been making stamps for my mixed media projects. I use these on the altered tissue paper which is so easy to make.
First , lets make the paper, you will need;
Art tissue, which is a bit stronger than wrapping tissue. If you can't find art tissue, use regular and be extra careful when painting.
Acrylic paint diluted with gloss or matte medium, depending on the look you wish to achieve.2 parts pint to 1 part med.
Plastic to cover the worktop, i use white garbage bags cut the sides off and unfold.
a paintbrush. water spray bottle.
Lay the tissue on the plastic sheet.
Very lightly spray the tissue with water.
Paint the paper, one color or stripes of color, let the paint merge together.
You can also add string gel, for texture, let the paper dry , around 2 hours.
Make the stamps by cutting cardboard pieces in to the shape you want. Glue on cut out shapes of card stock, or the very inexpensive bags of craft wood that comes in all shapes and sizes.
Finish the piece by painting with black gesso and gloss medium for waterproofing.
Add a strip of tape on the back to make a little handle.
Paint your stamps with acrylic paint of your color choice mixed with a little craft medium , practice your stamp technique on scrap paper and when you like what you see , go for it!
When the piece is completely dry, carefully peel the paper from the plastic, it is easy to do this, the tissue has a leathery feel and is easy to use for all sorts ofuse, wrapping gifts,journals, Altered books or mixed media art.
