MIXED MEDIA WORKSHOPS in MARSHFIELD WI NOVEMBER 2011

Hello, I will be teaching a workshop on Saturday November 19th at 10am til around 2 pm.The class will held inside the ' Stamping and scrapbooking fun' store at 327 South Central Ave Marshfield WI 54449 email me @ iblues@charter.net for more info or any questions. The class will be focused on Altered/recycled books . photographs of my work are on this blog.
 In November I will have my books published in the new Interweave magazine called 'PAGES'

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION;
The workshop focuses on creating a new altered book from a book ready to be recycled using all your tidbits of information, old photos, kids artwork, new and old photos, family recipes, or any keepsakes that you would like to incorporate into your special book.
We will explore ways to turn the new blank pages ( called signatures) into a journal for your own use or to give as a gift for Christmas. Once you have learned the basics of the class the possibilities are endless.
We will make  a book within a book, put in pockets and decorated flaps, create edges and folds, it will be your own unique creation.

Some people hand these down from generation to generation but whatever  you decide it will be a fun filled day to make something handcrafted and learn a new skill. What better than to recieve something made specially for you ?
I recently attended my nephew's fiancee's wedding shower, the theme of the shower was 'recipes' so I made the redand white 'KISS THE COOK' altered book for her as my shower gift. Everyone brought their favorite recipes and the book was filled with pockets to store these treasures. The fact I had spent time making it for the couple was much appreciated.

About the instructor;
Irene Schreiber is a multi media artist. Mostly self taught, her work includes painting,collage, fiber arts and felting as well as art quilting and applique. Irene has studied altered books with Rachel Fox and encaustic art  in Bend Oregon, painting with many top artists and applique and quilting with Sue Spargo and Sue Sorensen.
